819 - BURNISHING MACHINE.jpg (330359 bytes)

 Project 819:  Burnishing Machine

  Application:

Machine to burnish either three-hole, four-hole, or five-hole parts.  Burnished holes must be held within a tolerance of 10 microns.  Coolant must be used during burnishing processes.  Upper and lower tooling must be quick-change when switching between three-hole, four-hole, and five-hole parts.

Equipment:

Highly precise tooling was designed to accommodate the tight tolerance of the burnished holes.  Two-stage hydraulics used to move rapidly to the part then slow down to do the burnishing process. Coolant system rated to dispense coolant on-demand.

798 - VISION SYSTEM INTEGRATION.jpg (222173 bytes)

Project 798:   Vision System Integration

Application:

Tool and program a vision system to verify correct valve plate by operator prior to installation.  Sixteen parts can be loaded in four different orientations for a total of sixty four possible checks.  Difference in some parts are simply .5 degree angle changes. Display part number of plate loaded.

Equipment:

Precisely locate the part on spring loaded fixture.  DVT vision system with back lighting used to inspect valve plate; area, eccentricity and perimeter are key features evaluated. Part number displayed on LCD display unit.

765 - MULTI AXES TORQUE MACHINE.jpg (485035 bytes)

Project 765:  Multi-Axes Torque Machine

  Application:

Design and build a piece of on-line equipment to torque eighteen bolts into a casting.  Must allow for new products to run down the line with different hole locations, torque heights, and torque values.  Bolts will be loaded by operator, but process must be automated after that.

Equipment:

Servo motors used to move torque gun into position in X, Y and Z axes.  Once hole locations for different products are programmed they are stored and called up by operator via PanelView HMI by entering model number.  Precision lift and locate device lifts pallet off of assembly line. Torque controller allows for various torque values to be entered.
